We believe that education is one of the keys to ending the cycle of poverty. Many children in East Africa do not have access to good quality education. Additionally, family, societal, or financial pressures often limit their ability to continue their education into secondary or high school thus continuing the cycle of poverty. We aim to change this!
Starting in the rural village of Zirobwe, Uganda, we have our own primary school, Empowered Leaders Academy. Our school aims to provide a top-notch education. We equip and train local teachers in different teaching methods through our international teacher exchange volunteer program.
For our sponsored students outside of the village of Zirobwe, in Kenya and Tanzania, we work with reputable local schools to ensure the children receive a good education and have a support system to encourage them to excel and finish school.
We are expanding our educational vision for Zirobwe and the surrounding communities. We are currently fundraising to build a secondary school in the village. The nearest secondary school for the children in Zirobwe is over a two-hour walk; the secondary school costs and distance can discourage students and many opt out. Additionally, we plan to build dormitories to house children living in unsuitable home environments so they can be encouraged and given a safe place to focus on their studies. Giving students an opportunity to attend such a school will bring their mindset out of a life of poverty and give them confidence in knowing they can succeed in life.
